Not Your Average Rose
My husband recently gave me roses for valentine’s day. He has given me roses throughout the many years we have been together. However, in the last few years, he has been getting the roses from Ecuador.
Ecuador is located on the west northern side of South American, just south of Colombia. Roses, genus name Rosa, comes in a variety of colors. Stems with thorns are the common traits with roses.
I have not been to Ecuador, but if I go, I will want to go to a rose farm. The roses grown there have thicker and longer stems compared to the roses found in the local stores. Pictured below give an idea of the size of the flower and the thickness of some of the stems. They also come in many vibrant colors. My husband has them delivered to the house.

Upon arrival, the rose stems are securely fastened together and fastened to the box. The flowers are wrapped in wet paper. Many times, the paper is still damp when I open the box. I am always excited to see what color the roses will be when I remove the paper.
Valentine’s Day Florals
I received a dozen coral pink color and a dozen white roses for this Valentine’s Day. The white rose stems are huge compared to the pink stems. The bloom of both of these flowers are almost twice the size of the those found at the local stores.

Christmas Blooms
In December my husband sent me four dozen roses! My home looked like a floral shop! There were two dozen red roses, one dozen pink with white edges and a dozen white roses with green edges. They were all beautiful! The Ecuadorian roses also live a bit longer. Mine usually last at least two weeks.

Roses are picky flowers. They enjoy fresh water every day or two. Be sure to cut the stems each time so they can drink the water. They also enjoy the sunlight.
Sometimes there is baby’s Breath (Gypsophila) those are tiny white flowers in the bouquet with the flowers.

I am not sure why, but I really like taking a close up of the flowers. Unfortunately, I am not able to give you a great view on the size. However, you can see how the rose above is pink in the middle and then it gradually turns white on the outside of the flower. Some have a green tint to them.

The red roses are almost perfect in color. No other color is not even hinted in these pictured. But you can purchase the roses in any color you like. Below is a picture of the white roses.

Dainty Flowers
Sometimes my husband will still purchase flowers from the local stores. They look so dainty and tiny. I do not have a great picture right now, but next time I will measure them for better illustration purposes.

Perhaps you can tell by how much of the baby’s breath that can be seen in this picture. They seem to be about equal proportion in the picture.
In Conclusion
One last story, I believe it was one of our anniversaries that my husband bought me flowers. from Ecudor. I brought the flowers to my neighbor’s house, for them to enjoy, since my husband and I were leaving on a trip. Upon our return, our neighbors inquired where we got the flowers since they lived so long.
In conclusion, the roses will be appreciated no matter where they are purchased! But if you would like a little more variety, try getting your roses from Ecudor. There are many online sites to choose from. You will be surprised when you remove the paper!
